Pediatrician Flyers

Troop 1607 places recruitment flyers in local pediatricians’ offices, based on Scouting America’s Partner with Your Pediatrician initiative. A pediatrician’s office is a trusted, high-traffic stop for nearly every family in town, and reaches parents who’d never otherwise see a troop flyer.

Keep a stock of both, printed, on hand at troop meetings and outings.

  1. Give a scout family a printout of the flyer and the handout.
  2. The family brings them to their pediatrician’s office and asks to have the flyer placed in a waiting room or exam room.
  3. The family lets the Membership Coordinator know once a flyer has been placed.
  4. The Membership Coordinator keeps a running list of which offices have a flyer placed, and periodically checks how many times its QR code has been scanned.

Both the Membership Coordinator and the Medical Records Coordinator promote this to the troop, from different angles:

  • The Membership Coordinator raises it at troop events and approaches parents individually, handing out printouts as they go.
  • The Medical Records Coordinator pairs it with medical form conversations, especially ahead of summer camp and high adventure — when the full AHMR physical is already on parents’ minds anyway. Keep a stack of printouts on hand at troop events for this.

The QR code on the flyer contains UTM tracking parameters- this can be monitored with Google Analytics.
