Eagle Scoutmaster Conference (ESMC)
Section titled “Eagle Scoutmaster Conference (ESMC)”Unlike the other ranks, the Eagle SMC is always held outside of a troop meeting so the Scoutmaster can give their full attention and so time isn’t a concern.
While the conference itself largely follows the same format as the other ranks, this time is also used to review some details and paperwork specific to the Eagle rank.
Before requesting an Eagle SMC, please make sure you have (and bring with you to the conference):
- Your Scout Handbook w/ all logs up-to-date
- Your well-organized advancement binder w/ all rank certificates, merit badge certificates, blue cards, etc, all signed and up-to-date
- A digital copy of your entire project workbook, including the project report and the beneficiary’s final signature, and any relevant photos/diagrams. Please email it to the Scoutmaster in advance so they can read it beforehand.
- A digital copy of your letter of ambition. Email to Scoutmaster in advance.
- A digital copy of your Eagle Scout Rank Application, with everything filled in, incl. your character references’ contact info. Email to Scoutmaster in advance. The reference letters themselves don’t need to be present at the SMC.
- Your complete Class A uniform, including MB sash and all the proper up-to-date patches in the right places.
While none of these things are required to hold a Scoutmaster Conference, it’s highly recommended that you do these things to avoid needing more follow-up meetings to get all the paperwork and signatures in order. If you do the proper preparation, you can get everything done and signed off at once.

Eagle Court of Honor (ECOH)
Section titled “Eagle Court of Honor (ECOH)”Earning the rank of Eagle Scout is a major milestone, and the Eagle Court of Honor (ECOH) is your chance to celebrate it with family, friends, and fellow Scouts. Each ceremony is a unique event, planned and arranged by you and your family, with assistance from the troop.
Resources
Section titled “Resources”Check out these useful resources to get an overview of how to plan your Eagle COH:
Date and Location
Section titled “Date and Location”The ECOH can be at any time and location preferred by the scout, but they’re typically held on a Saturday or Sunday during the daytime. Combining with a regular troop COH is possible, but it is strongly encouraged that you plan a standalone ceremony and make it your own. Your Life to Eagle Coordinator can help you book time at the VFW if needed.
Medicine Bag
Section titled “Medicine Bag”The Medicine Bag is a Troop 1607 tradition where each Eagle Scout adds a “medicine”, symbolic of a lesson learned in Scouting, to the troop’s “medicine bag”. You should prepare your item and a short speech explaining what it is and why. Include a label or tag on the item with your name, the year, and the explanation.
