Expenses and Payment
For the amount of activities and value you get, Scouting is very inexpensive. The costs are detailed below.
Scout Accounts
Section titled “Scout Accounts”A scout account is an accounting of your balance with the troop. Dues, trip fees, reimbursements, etc are all recorded on your scout account. You can see your balance and history on your account page in TroopWebHost.
You can add money to your account either by paying online or by giving a check to the Treasurer, made out to “Troop 1607”.

Types of Expenses
Section titled “Types of Expenses”Scouting Membership
Section titled “Scouting Membership”Each scout needs an active membership with Scouting America. In 2025, that cost is $160 per year. This money goes directly to the National and regional scouting organization to fund the overall Scouting movement and cover insurance.
Troop 1607 Membership
Section titled “Troop 1607 Membership”Rather than an a-la-carte model where scouts pay for each campout, Troop 1607 charges flat annual dues of $150 per scout (2025). By supplementing with our troop fundraising efforts, we can offer all of our 10 weekend camping trips per year for free. These dues also help pay for things like troop equipment, all the patches you earn, and leadership training costs.
Handbook and Uniform
Section titled “Handbook and Uniform”See more info on the Handbook and Uniform page.
Personal Camping Gear
Section titled “Personal Camping Gear”While the troop does have a large library of camping equipment, the scouts are responsible for bringing a few personal gear items with them.
Summer Camp + High Adventure
Section titled “Summer Camp + High Adventure”Summer Camp and High Adventure are longer summer trips that aren’t included free in the cost of troop membership. The cost of attending these varies depending on the trip.
